Custom White Oak Double Herringbone Flooring
The centerpiece of this Streamwood flooring project is beautiful 3″ x 22″ White Oak Rift & Quartered hardwood flooring from Graf Custom Hardwood, installed in a custom double herringbone pattern.
The combination of natural White Oak and the classic herringbone layout brings warmth, character, and a sophisticated architectural feel to the home. Rift & Quartered White Oak is especially beautiful because of its distinctive grain pattern and refined appearance, making it an excellent choice for custom hardwood flooring installations.
To complete the look, we created a custom stain color and finished the floors with Bona Traffic HD Satin, providing a beautiful low-sheen appearance along with the durability needed for everyday living.
What Is a Double Herringbone Flooring Pattern?
Double herringbone is a distinctive variation of the traditional herringbone hardwood floor pattern. Instead of using a single flooring block in each direction, two matching blocks are paired together to create a larger and more dramatic pattern.

The staircase features substantial new White Oak stair treads, custom newel posts, and iron balusters, creating a strong, custom-built appearance while complementing the Rift & Quartered White Oak flooring throughout the home.
To take the finished staircase to another level, we incorporated accent lighting throughout the stairs. The lighting highlights the craftsmanship and architectural details while creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.
The combination of White Oak, iron balusters, custom details, and integrated lighting transformed the staircase into an architectural feature of the home rather than simply a functional element.
