Sandless Floor Refinishing (Screen & Coat)
Sandless Floor Refinishing (also called buff & recoat) is a hassle free alternative to sanding and refinishing solid and engineered wood floors.
This process is a maintenance or sprucing up procedure for floors that have not yet worn to the point of needing a full sand & refinish. Buff and recoat can be done in just a couple of hours. Businesses love this process because we can come in at closing and have the floors dried for opening the next morning.
Periodical deep cleanings with the Bona Deep Clean machine or a Basic Coating Dirt Dragon will extend the life of your floor. The buff & recoat process involves buffing the floors to remove surface scuffs and scratches. Tom & Peter Flooring uses state-of-the-art floor buffers that hook right up to a vacuum system. This makes the buffing process virtually dust free. It is usually recommended for dull floors that are in good shape, rather than wood floors that need refinishing. Screen and coats should be completed as maintenance every couple of years to floors that have been recently sanded.
After the floor has been buffed and thoroughly cleaned, we apply a coating of an odorless, fast drying, fast curing & extremely durable Bona® floor finish. Choose between oil and water-based finish; available in satin, semi-gloss, and gloss.
Please note: The buff and recoat procedure will not remove scratches, dents, or dings that have penetrated the top layer of finish. Generally floors that have not had much attention in 7 years or more will not be able to get away with this process. Also, floors that are discolored, or have areas that the finish has completely worn off cannot be recoated.
